Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the dental pulp and the tissues around the roots of the teeth. Endodontic treatment, also called root canal treatment, addresses the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth. An endodontist helps save patients’ teeth and their natural smile so that they can get back the natural function of their teeth. Routine and highly complex endodontic procedures include root canal therapy, endodontic surgery and advanced dental procedures to salvage teeth of a patient following a serious dental injury.
Pediatric dentistry manages the essential dental care of infants, children in their adolescence and those with special health care requirements. Pediatric dentists work with parents to break the bad habits of kids such as pacifier dependency and thumb-sucking. A pediatric dentist offers dental services including fluoride treatment, teeth cleaning, and diagnoses potential problems such as uneven teeth and overbites, removes wisdom teeth, fixes cavities, manages gum diseases, and also gives suggestions about nutrition and food that’s least damaging to the enamel of a child’s teeth.
Orthodontics deals with correcting the improper positioning of teeth. An orthodontist deals with patients reporting an underbite, gaps between teeth, overbite, crooked teeth, overcrowded teeth, or jaw misalignment. It’s important to correct misaligned teeth, which may lead to decayed tooth and gingivitis and affect long-term oral health and oral functions such as speech and eating. In orthodontic treatments, the position of teeth is gradually straightened. Orthodontics is also an effective cosmetic dental procedure to attain a more attractive smile.
Periodontics is a dental specialty with a focus on the inflammatory disease that can destroy gums and the supporting structures of the teeth. A periodontist helps prevent, diagnose, and treating periodontal disease and also places dental implants. Periodontics treats periodontitis of all severity and is concerned with scaling and root planing, removal of damaged tissue, and procedures that help in reversing tissue and bone loss. A periodontist also performs surgery when a patient has severe gum disease and is also well-trained in all aspects of implant care.
Dentistry and oral surgery
Dentistry often requires highly specialized training in oral surgery to help treat a range of dental conditions and diseases such as dental implants, teeth extraction, endodontic disease, cleft lip and palate repair, jaw injury, unequal jaw growth, wisdom teeth removal, tooth loss, and temporomandibular joint disorders. Oral surgeons, also called maxillofacial surgeons, are trained to handle complex restorative surgical procedures to treat facial injuries, oral cancer, and facial cosmetic surgery. An oral surgeon is also well-trained in in anesthesia and pain management.
I visited Pierce Aesthetics to correct crooked teeth in my lower jaw. The dentist was friendly and patient. I was able to understand the chosen procedure without difficulty and trusted him. What also left an impression was the cheerful staff. I smile with ease now and would again pick Dr. Peirce and his dental team if I were to have a dental issue.
One of my friends did not have such a good experience when he went to his dentist due to a complication during the implant procedure. So I was anxious during our first consultation. After the dentist explained the implant procedure and how he does his job, I become relaxed. I no longer have pain, my smile is better, and I am glad to make the right decision.
My concern before visiting this clinic was the cost of the reconstruction procedure. It can be so difficult to find a good clinic or dentist that does not charge too much. I am lucky to have found Pierce. I think the cost of the treatment was fair and the whole experience more than satisfactory. Also liked the look of the clinic and the cheerful staff.
